FEATURES ON ALL J & JD SERIES KILNS

USES DYNA-GLOW CERAMIC ELEMENT HOLDERS

2350°F - CONE 10 - 1287°C: Hot enough to fire stoneware and porcelain. (All models except the J23, JD23, J2918 and JD2918 which go to Cone 5 unless supplied with the powered bottom) Compare our amp and K.W. ratings to the competition to assure yourself that L&L puts enough power in our kilns to achieve Cone 10.

TWO YEAR WARRANTY

SIZES TO 17.2 CUBIC FEET CHOICE OF VOLTAGE: 240, 208 or 220 VOLTS, 1 or 3 Phase (Elements are specifically designed for different voltages). Note: 220 volts is for overseas export.

SECTIONAL CONSTRUCTION:

Easy to move, set up and repair. Sections can be removed for easy loading of kiln.Sections plug into separate instrument box with flexible cords eliminating any plug to receptacle line up problems. It is easy to stack the sections and then, after the kiln is lined up to your satisfaction, you can plug the sections into the instrument box.

DETACHABLE INSTRUMENT PANEL - STANDS OFF CASE - STAYS COOL:

Switches, electronics and other sensitive components last longer. There is a full open air space in-between the kiln and the control box. The control box can be taken off the kiln in minutes by anyone (no kiln technician needed) and sent back to the factory by UPS (overnight if necessary) for expert repairs. There is absolutely no wiring to disconnect and reconnect.

CONTACTORS AND BRANCH FUSING:

Larger models (J236 and above) have contactors and branch fusing and are a direct hook up to your power source. This is done per the National Electrical Code and UL standards.

INTERCHANGEABLE ELEMENTS:

The elements do not have to be "graded" so as element resistance changes, even if there are variations in elements aging, the kiln automatically compensates to keep temperatures even. All elements are the same and interchangeable. No chance of element mix up. No chance of kiln uniformity being affected by element changes.

LARGE DIAMETER PEEPHOLES:

There are full one inch diameter untapered peepholes with insulated plugs for ventilation and cone sighting. These allow greater visibility into kiln. There is one peephole per section.

FIREBRICK HARDENED WITH SPECIAL FACING:

Finest quality 2-1/2” thick firebrick. Firebrick has reflective ceramic coating - reduces dusting, aids brick life and increases operating efficiency and uniformity.

The shallow cut required by the unique L&L Dyna Glow element holders makes brick even more efficient.

STAINLESS STEEL CASE FOR LONG CORROSION FREE LIFE GALVANIZED STEEL STAND:

Galvanized steel resists corrosion at high temperatures. There is a full heavy metal plate under the kiln for ful support of the bottom. PLASTIC LEG PROTECTORS: This allows the kiln to be slid on typical linoleum floors

POWDER COATING PAINT IS BAKED ON:

Special long lasting finish is a powder coating that is baked on to all carbon steel parts.

REVERSIBLE BOTTOM:

The bottom can be reversed in case of a firing mishap.

OPTIONAL HEAVY DUTY ELEMENTS:

These will last longer when firing to high cones. Heavy duty elements are heavier gauge wire and have a lower watt density (watts per square inch of element surface area).

OPTIONAL POWERED BOTTOM FOR 23" AND 29" MODELS

VENT-SURE VENT OPTION

FEATURES (ON J SERIES MANUAL KILNS)

DAWSON KILN SITTER/TIMER

UL LISTED (Manual single phase only)

INFINITE ZONE CONTROL:

Infinite zone control from top to bottom - allows you to manually even out the heat for perfect firing results. Pilot lights for each zone show which zones are firing. We recommend using this feature in conjunction with our TRU-VIEW pyrometer system.

Model JD 230 Automatic Kiln The new JD Series version adds automatic program and Dynamic Zone Control to the J Series reliable standard.

FEATURES(ON JD SERIES AUTOMATIC KILNS).

DYNA-TROL PROGRAM CONTROL WITH DYNAMIC ZONE CONTROL:

The new JD Series combines the the sturdy sectional J Series Econo-Kilns with the revolutionary technology of “Dynamic Zone Control.” This new feature on L&L’s superb DynaTrol program controller eliminates the manual switch box and automates our famous multi-zone control. This redesigned box still mounts away from the kiln (with air space in between to protect the control from heat). The kiln sections still plug into this new box with flexible power cords. There is no Kiln Sitter/Timer or manual switches. The exact same kiln sections are used on the manual and automatic kilns. The JD Series kilns will fire to within better than 1/2 a cone top to bottom - automatically - with no manual adjustments. The DynaTrol features four “Easy Fire” factory preset programs and six separate “Vary Fire” programs that you control.

BASIC SPECIFICATIONS STAY SAME AS J SERIES:

The JD automatic kilns use the same exact sections as the J manual kilns. The same sizes are available.

DYNATROL IS INTEGRAL PART OF KILN CONTROL:

The new DynaTrol with “Dynamic Zone Control” replaces manual switches and Kiln Sitter/Timer. Operation of the kiln, including zone control for even firing, is completely automated. An On/Off switch and control fuse are included.

DYNAMIC ZONE CONTROL:

"Dynamic Zone Control" automatically controls a top, middle and bottom zone. There are three separate thermocouples for precise measurement of zone temperatures. (Kiln will still fire with only one or two thermocouples). In three section kilns each section is one zone. In four and five section kilns the middle zone consists of two or three center sections. Accuracy is better than 1/2 cone top to bottom. Find out about our optional Industrial 2300MI Thermocouples
